Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20 1964 is a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice-president and the highest ranking female official in U.S history. She is a part of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally she served as an United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California and re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who fought for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A path towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her name is well-known due to her direct questions to Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
